Reborn Rich (재벌집 막내아들)
Written by Kim Tae Hee | Directed by Jeong Dae Yun
Maintaining a clear boundary between family and business is a principle underscored not only by the masterful HBO series “Succession” but also by the South Korean drama Reborn Rich, which adopts this same premise with a South Korean original flavour. The series, comes as no surprise for its nomination in the TV movie/miniseries category at the 2024 Emmy Awards. Its non-linear narrative structure, spanning 16 episodes, weaves flashbacks seamlessly, offering subtle hints while keeping curiosity alive in every second of the show.
Undoubtedly, Song Joong-Ki carries success with him wherever he ventures. His prowess as an actor is truly impressive! Since Vincenzo, the viewership for his projects has consistently soared. His acting skills and remarkable versatility affirm that any drama he’s part of is bound to be exceptional. In my case, it’s a win-win situation! And in this particular series, the outcome is no different—he radiates brilliance. His portrayal of a manipulative character, strategizing with finesse, is truly impressive. Much like his role in “Arthdal Chronicles,” where he effortlessly takes on the challenge of playing two characters, showcasing his exceptional talent, or at least, making it appear that way.
Moreover, the plot is intricately woven and captivates with its intrigue. The decision to delve into the past, intertwining actual historical events we’re already familiar with, added a delightful layer to the narrative. Despite the initial complexity hinted at in the synopsis, the unfolding of the first few episodes allowed me to navigate the unexpected plot twists seamlessly. A special commendation is also due for Lee Sung-min; his portrayal of the patriarch is nothing short of exceptional!
